Cavs release statement on tragic shooting during Chiefs Super Bowl parade
The Cleveland Cavaliers are amid an impressive midseason run during the 2023-24 NBA season. However, the Cavs feel the sting of loss that occurred during the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade. A tragic shooting left several critically injured, and Cleveland released a statement of solidarity.
The Cavs stand with the Kansas City community amid the unfortunate incident
Cleveland is disturbed by the shocking shooting from Wednesday’s parade. This is the statement the franchise released:
“Our hearts go out to all the innocent victims of today’s deadly shooting in Kansas City. We condemn all acts of violence and share our thoughts and prayers for the community,” the Cavaliers posted on X.
Hopefully, the survivors of the shooting can have a safe and efficient recovery process. The incident happened as the Chiefs were ending their Super Bowl 58 celebration. Kansas City earned its third title in five years under the leadership of 28-year-old quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Now, the franchise and city are offering their full support amid a troubling time, and the Cavs stand with them.
Cleveland is having an outstanding push despite being hit with injuries early on in the season. The Cavs are 35-17, which places them second in the Eastern Conference standings. Of course, Donovan Mitchell is spearheading the team’s two-way attack.
The 27-year-old averages a team-high 28.3 points and 1.9 steals per game. However, he has help from Jarrett Allen. Allen continues to blossom into one of the league’s best centers. He averages a hefty double-double of 15.6 points and 10.6 rebounds to go with 1.2 blocks.
All in all, the Cavs hope their momentum and positive energy is sent to Kansas City amid the city’s troublesome time.
