Darius Garland’s injury status after missing Cavs’ preseason finale vs. Pacers
Darius Garland and the Cleveland Cavaliers are currently putting the finishing touches on their preseason slate in preparation for the upcoming 2023-24 NBA season. Although Garland has played in two of Cleveland’s preseason games so far, it was recently announced that he would miss the Cavs’ preseason finale against the Indiana Pacers.
Apparently, Garland is dealing with a minor injury; however, there is no concern about his availability when the regular season gets underway next week, according to Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.
The fact that Darius Garland’s injury status doesn’t appear to be anything serious will certainly be music to the ears of Cavs fans who have high hopes for the upcoming season.
The Cavs are looking to bounce back after a horrific showing in the 2023 NBA playoffs, which occurred on the heels of a bounce back regular season following the acquisition of Donovan Mitchell. While Mitchell and Garland formed one of the league’s most dynamic backcourt tandems throughout the regular season, both stars went missing in action in their first-round series against the Knicks, in which the Cavs were unceremoniously dropped off in just five games.
While the Cavs still figure to be underneath the Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, and Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference hierarchy this season, the rest of the conference would seem to be up for grabs, and with Garland and Mitchell having another offseason to work with one another, the sky could be the limit for Cleveland in 2023-24.
The Cavs will tip off their regular season on October 25 against the Brooklyn Nets.
